Does blood in urine affect a pregnancy test?

8 doctors weighed in across 3 answers

No: The pregnancy test detects presence of human horionic gonadotropin (hcg), which is a hormone and is not affected by the presence of blood. Excessive amounts of blood in the urine, though, may obscure the screen of the test piece, but will not affect the result itself.
