A member asked:

What does it mean if your heart / chest hurts when you burp? what can you do about it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See a doctor: This may represent an irritation to the esophagus, the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach. Such pain may get better with antacids but it would be worth checking with an md to find out if there can be any other causes and to reassure you (often with an ekg heart test) that there is no heart cause to the pain. I suspect that each time a belch passes it stretches the irritated esophagus.
