A member asked:

I just had an mri of my right thigh. findings were intramuscular lipoma in semitendinosus. i'm 70 years old. would surgery result in loss of muscle tissue, too?

No: Lipoma is a benign tumor, rarely transforms to malignant liposarcoma, will cause -pressure symptoms, and its removal will not cause any muscle loss or minimum as some time have to go through muscle to remove it.

Shouldn't : If you are considering removal for symptom relief, consider an orthopedist or surgical oncologist despite the fact lipomas are benign.
