BCP or Metformin: For non-insulin resistant patients the treatment varies, depending on whether a patient is trying for pregnancy or not. Birth control pills for those who are not trying to get pregnant. Metformin only for those patients with impaired glucose tolerance. These are patients that have been found to have an elevated Insulin level or diabetes from Insulin resistance
