Not necessarily: Dilation is a reflection of obstruction which may be due to a cancer or a benign tumor/polyp, a small stone, or a scarring of ureter.

Dilated Renal Pelvis: At your age, a dilated renal pelvis may mean a partial obstruction at any point in the renal collecting system is causing a condition known as hydronephrosis. This can be due to a congenital problem with the ureter, a kidney stone, or a myriad of other conditions. You should consult a nephrologist immediately.
