LUNG CONGESTION: Smoking causes the cells that line up all throughout your bronchial tubes to stop moving, hence causing difficulty clearing secretions that also get thicker due to sitting there longer than they have to. So clearly the most important thing is that you quit smoking and get treated in an attempt to clear those secretions as quickly as possible. Good luck.
