It can be: Sometimes after a surgery or an injury, the blood released or caused by either goes by gravity to the lowest point and then may appear as a bruise that will go away as the blood is reabsorbed by your body.

Can be: You need to discuss this with your surgeon and physical therapist to make sure therapy is not to aggressive.
