Talk to MD: The surgeon will be the one to best gauge the rate of recovery. This can depend on type of surgery, underlying defect and recovery from surgery. Best case with the information you have provided is months before even thinking about football.

Quite Some Time: Getting back to riding a bicycle can take some time, and football much longer (if at all). Kids generally are able to go out and play ~1-2 months after. Playing football is more risky because of the risk of chest trauma. Please please talk with your child's cardiologist and surgeon to learn more about their specific issues.
