A member asked:

Is cognition affected by open heart surgery? 2.5 year old operated on at 6 weeks old. angry, frustrated, slow speech, poor attention. - connection?

Possible: cardiopulmonary bypass, anaesthesia, blood transfusions may all have cognitive consequences. Your child is still young enough that the brain should have the opportunity to heal. I would encourage you to get a neurologic evaluation as soon as possible, as well as seeing a pediatric behaviour specialist to assess the extent of the problem and treatment options
