This condition is called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and the risk of developing a DVT goes up after surgery or delivery. These clots can break free at any time and travel to the lung. This is called a pulmonary embolus (pe) which is a true emergency because it interferes with breathing and can be fatal. See a doc!
