Not a mediCAtion: Meditation does not require a prescription, and you can do it every day without problematic side effects. There are many different forms, but the simplest way i've found is mindfulness-based stress reduction. You can do it anywhere you're breathing or doing any activity at all. For info: www.Umassmed.Edu/cfm/home/index.Aspx they list programs beyond ma. Also: www.Mindfullivingprograms.Com.

Non-Medical!: Individual and collective stress is endemic. Some stress is appropriate ("a lion is chasing me"...!) but most, however, is inappropriate and caused by an overactive and automatic "firing" of these "sympathetic" defense mechanisms. We have to "unlearn" them in a natural and automatic way so they don't exhaust us and shorten our lives. Meditation techniques are superior to any rx. Check out t.M.
