Why?: It's not clear whether testosterone therapy would have any benefit for older men who are otherwise healthy. If you are extremely active, you do not need additional testosterone. There are potential side effects like testicular shrinkage, breast enlargement, acne, prostate enlargement or possible stimulation of existing prostate cancer. Talk with your doctor about the risks and benefits.

None: There is no recommendation that a male should be injected with extra testosterone because he happens to be a certain age or happens to be doing a certain amount of any activity.

Depends: Low testosterone or t hypogonadism is common. A t level <300 is usually considered hypogonadism and can lead to symptoms such as low libido, decrease energy, etc. As long as other things are ruled out (i.e. Pituitary tumor) t replacement therapy is initiated. Either shots, gels, patches, pellets or submucosal pills can be used. Monitoring t blood levels very closely to achieve level 300-800.
