Risks with any med: The first thing is to be sure that you have a proper diagnosis. You need to know if you have primary or secondary hypogonadism. If it is primary, taking HCG will not work. If it is secondary, taking HCG will make it worse unless you have had pituitary surgery. If you have been told by a non endocrinologist that your testosterone is low, you should have it verified by a specialist before meds.

Very complex answer: Need >400 chars, but: HCG is used more when fertility is desired bc testosterone can cause dec in testicular volume and sperm count. If ur lh/fsh hormone levels are elevated, then HCG probly won't work, but if not, the HCG will will stimulate leydig cells in testes to produce more testosterone. No significant side effects at usual doses.
