Probably not: Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) is indicated for the treatment of major depression. It does not have action on the norepinephrine receptors that medications such as Cymbalta have. The action on norepinephrine is what gives certain antidepressants their pain relief properties. For some individuals improving depression will help improve pain indirectly though.

MAYBE: Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) boosts the neurotransmitter serotonin in two ways. Usually for pain you may want to go for a mix of serotonin and norepinephrine like in Cymbalta to Effexor higher doses or pristiq. Additionally the 20mg is a starting dose and may need to be increased over time as tolerated.
