If you have chondromalacia in one knee, does it effect the other?

No: Chondromalcia can be in one or both knees. Just because you have chondromalacia in one knee does not mean you have it in the other knee. If you have pain in both knees, you may have it. If the knees are painful, you need a MRI scan of the knee and possibly knee arthroscopy.
