Chondral injury: Falling on your knee can produce a tear of the cartilage or a bruise of the knee cap (patella). If you have chondromalacia, it is even easier to do this. A plain x-ray is not likely to demonstrate very much about the cartilage surface. An MRI can show the cartilage surface with high-resolution. Discuss this with your doctor to determine if imaging is necessary at this time.

Knee chondromalacia: This is part of spectrum of knee issues which is very hard to totally cure. It has to do with the bodies inability to repair the injured or damaged tissue ( hyaline cartilage) with new heathy cartilage. As a result it becomes part of an ongoing process of further damage and hence pain and swelling . MostLY ONE CAN IMPROVE THINGS BY FOLLOWING "RICE". A VIRTUAL CONSULT MAY ALSO HELP .
