Anti H+ pills: Gerd is from reflex passage of acid from the stomach into the esophagus. It is a long term risk for damage to the lower esophagus including cancer. You can modify the diet, use secretory inhibitors like omeprazole, and use short term antiacids like rolaids and tums (calcium carbonate). Some are helped by elevating the head of the bed. Discuss with your doctor.
