Yes, Sometimes: Grinding places tremendous stresses on the teeth & gums. Normal chewing & swallowing brings teeth together about 5 minutes a day. Grinding for an hour daily, puts 12-14 days stress on the teeth. This can inflame the tiny ligament holding the hard tooth in the hard bone socket & stretch the nerve bundle making it more sensitive. Trauma from the bite can accelerate periodontal disease as well.

Grinding teeth: Grinding teeth excessively will wear the teeth and make them sensitive. If you grind a lot your gums will recede. Once the gums recede the roots get exposed and the teeth become more sensitive, especially to temperature differences.
