Can epilepsy be treated while pregnant?

Can and should: Epilepsy can and should be treated in pregnancy. Seizures are dangerous for the developing baby. Stay in close touch with your doctor.

Choosing wisely: Check out the results from AED pregnancy registry (run through Harvard). There was an update last fall. It compares pregnancy outcomes on various meds and gives you (and your doc) guidance on choosing meds wisely. Generally, we use the lowest effective dose of the safest drug we can. Close monitoring during pregnancy is good.
