Usually not. : Many women with epilepsy have normal pregnancies. They need to be aware that epilepsy medicines need to be monitored since levels may change due to changes in fluid balance, kidney and liver function. Some epilepsy medicines can cause fetal malformations but it is usually safer to continue than to risk seizures during pregnancy. Take extra Folic Acid since this can be reduced by medications.
