They can relate: Psychotic depression can occur in someone who also uses dissociation as an unconscious defense against feeling pain. Yet one doesn't require the other, nor are they always together. Dissociation can worsen depression. Also, someone who dissociates might appear similar to someone with psychotic depression. That's why an entire history must be taken, and an extensive interview done.
