How long is the recovery for hernia surgery?

Hernia surgery: The recovery time after hernia surgery varies, depending on the location of the hernia, the size of the hernia, the type of repair, as well as the patient's underlying physical issues. Most surgeons would recommend that the patient avoid any lifting for at least 2 weeks and to avoid heavy lifting for 4-6 weeks. I would suggest you ask your surgeon that same question.

Depends: Not all hernias are the same. The most common hernia operation is an inguinal hernia repair which typically has a 1-3 week recovery period for a laparoscopic repair and a 2-4 week recovery for an open repair.
