Chemo surgery radiat: Arimidex (anastrozole) is just one of the ways that we treat breast cancer. Surgery is the mainstay for most breast cancer patients - often followed by radiation therapy. We call these local therapies because they treat the breast and surrounding areas. Chemotherapy and endocrine therapy treat the whole body. Arimidex (anastrozole) is one form of endocrine therapy - essentially designed to starve the tumor of estrogen.
