ESRD : It all depends upon the person's overall medical condition at the time of stopping dialysis. In my experience, people can live for 1-3 weeks after stopping dialysis. My grandfather never started dialysis but lived 2 weeks with complete renal shut down. Basically he went to sleep and never woke up.
