Yes: A lumbar herniated disc most commonly presents as radiating or shooting pain down the leg. Most of the time back pain is absent most of the time this responds to conservative managemt.

Yes: A disc herniation can cause symptoms in either or both legs and sometimes neither if it is a higher level lumbar disc herniation. Leg symptoms include: pain, numbness, tingling or parathesias and/or weakness.
