Yes but...: There is no surgery without risk. The supposed benefit of any surgical procedure needs to be balanced against the typical risk of the procedure before you decide for surgery. If you are unsure, you may need more time to consider your options, or get a second opinion.

Riskier, yes: The duodenal switch involves a sleeve plus a rerouting of your small bowel so that food is absorbed in only a few feet of small bowel instead of 11 feet. The surgery is more complex and has higher complication rates. The degree of malnutrition is higher (10% have reversal due to malnutrition). The improvement over bypass in weight loss is trivial. Generally we don't advise.
