Hair loss: This is often due to alopecia areata. It is considered an immunological condition and often cane be treated. Best to read about it online and then make an appointment with a dermatologist. Fungus diseases can also cause hair loss but would usually have red skin and be itchy and scaly.

We are doctors...: ...Not fortune tellers. If your beard is just coming in, it will likely get thicker and longer over time, but there's no way to predict such things, particularly sight-unseen. Beard characteristics do tend to run in families, however, so take a look at your father and your grandfathers -- if they can grow a long, thick beard, you will probably be able to as well.
