Not necessarily so: Even healthy people have protein in urine, at times--orthostatic proteinuria, especially in children (protein spilled in urine during active hours). Being a diabetic put u at higher risk for kidney disease and excess protein in urine is a marker for disease. There meds to reduce this. Keep diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol under control. Eat well, exercise, and see doc regularly. Good luck.
