Type of flat foot: There are two types of flat feet (pes planus), the flexible and rigid. In a flexible flat foot there is an arch when non-weight bearing that collapses upon standing or bearing weight. In a rigid flat foot there is no arch whether standing or sitting (weight bearing or non weight bearing). Each one causes different problems and should be treated with different types of orthotics.
