A fusion: It is a fusion of usually just two of the tarsal bones. This fusion is abnormal and often takes place where a joint should be - instead of a joint, the two bones are fused together. Sometimes they are asymptomatic and sometimes they cause a number of serious problems. A lot depends on what bones are involved.
