Goal is to rid pain: Tarsal coalitions are typically bony connections of the bones in the middle and rear foot. The goal of surgery is to relieve pain. The kind of surgery depends on the degree of degeneration around. It may be as simple as resecting the bony connection or may be more complicated and result in fusion. Your foot/ankle surgeon should review the procedure AND post-operative course in detail.
