A member asked:

Are bronchopulmonary dysplasia and infant respiratory distress syndrome one and the same?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No.: Infant rds happens minutes to hours after a premature birth, due to lack of surfactant ('lubricant') in baby lungs. Bpd is long-term (weeks to months) damage resulting from rds.
