A member asked:

Is it good to take mineral oil and miralax (polyethylene glycol) if you're constipated?

Dr. Jay Park answered

OK but...: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is a strong bowel softener and therefore should be reserved for temporary use. For someone with a longstanding constipation, maintenance treatment should be followed after a good bowel cleansing, i.e., mineral oil, good bowel habit, high fiber intake, so on.
