A member asked:

Does it hurt to get a biopsy for a tumor on your parotid gland?

Not much: A fine needle hurts less than giving blood. A cutting needle isn't as bad as a dental procedure. Parotid tumors can be vicious, especially if there's a delay in diagnosis. Here's hoping that your tumor is benign or caught early, and that you'll continue your proactive, brave approach.

Pain with biopsy: A fine needle aspiration biopsy is done with a local anesthetic. It is not without discomfort but most patients tolerate it quite well.
