Gallbladder: The liver produces bile for digestion, some of which is stored in the gallbladder. The bile acids help the intestine to be able to absorb the fatty nutrients in foods. There are no enzymes in bile. Digestive enzymes are produced by the pancreas to help break down proteins for digestion (amylase, lipase, protease). The salivary gland, stomach & small intestine also produce enzymes.
