Prescription: Scabies is not treatable with over the counter products as opposed to head lice. Elimite (permethrin) is the most often used scabicide .It is effective and safe. Even after adequate treatment itching can persist for several days and may need a topical or internal sterojd to resolve the post scabies itching.
