What're the reasons a baby's heart rate drops?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

??during labor??: During labor this is commonly followed as an indicator of babies well being.Heart rate changes can be expected from head compression during a contraction. This triggers babies vagus nerve to slow the heart some during pressure & let it speed up as it lets off. It can also indicate poor blood flow thru the placenta & umbilical cord if the heart rate does not come back to normal=distress=need to act.
