With difficulty: Toxic shock syndrome (tss) is a very rare type of infection caused by staphylococcus or streptococcus (toxic shock like syndrome) organisms. Most cases were reported in the 1980s and most were a result of infections arising from tampon use. Other causes are from skin infections. Most doctors will never see a case of tss. It is that rare.
