It can: Depression can magnify pain symptoms and chronic pain can lead to depression. There are several types of drug categories that are used to help control pain including antidepressants.

NOT BEST FOR PAIN: There are other medications for pain that are also antidepressants such as Cymbalta and Effexor and pristiq (desvenlafaxine). Depends also on the type of pain that you are referring to. Lexapro is a good antidepressant however. Speak with your physician and do not worry too much about advertisements and commercials!
