No: Early mild fungus may not smell. It can be s along on the bottom of the foot or between the toes or a discoloration of the nail. Untreated fungus can get worse and spread. For non nail involvement over the counter medications can eradicate or at least decrease foot fungus.

Not necessarily: Fungus may not necessarily have a bad odor. If one were to thoroughly wash the affected area the smell may go away even though one may still have an underlying fungal infection. The odor one may smell that is often accompanies with a fungal infection may be due to bacteria or excessive sweating or moisture in the area.
