What effect would undiagnosed severe sleep apnea have on the fetus of pregnant mother?

Virtually none: Unless mom had seizures from hypoxia, baby is protected via placental respiration.

See your OB to check: Sleep apnea (sa), especially if severe, produces various stresses on your body. During pregnancy, both you and your fetus can suffer from this. Oxygen desaturation is of particular concern. See you md to consider evaluation and treatment for both you and your baby.

Not to worry: Fetal hemoglobin is much more avid for oxygen than adult hemoglobin. Even if an adult is hypoxic to the point of losing consciousness, the fetus will be maintaining normal O2 saturations.
