Depends: If you are taking Valtrex (valacyclovir) for suppression of herpes, it is very safe and I have never seen it effect the liver function tests. It is also important to take antiviral drugs daily if you have hiv. If you get frequent outbreaks of herpes it may be reasonable to take an antiviral everyday. That also can decrease the chances of passing on the virus.
