Not really: Great question therevhave been incidences where certain types of metals have been implicated in inflammatory reactions and in some cases have lead, to the removal however this is rare and you are more likelly to win the lottery, it's more of a concern to worry about blood clots and infections and preventing them.

Not worth the chance: Metal on metal (mom) hip implants have fallen out of favor based on an increasing amount of scientific evidence of premature implant failures. There is a reported 5-6% incidence of nickel allergy in the general public- this is the metal "hypersensitivity" that you are referring to. Nickel is found in small amounts of most orthopaedic implants. Allergy testing can be done for careful evaluation.
