Need more info: The fact that your mother had two miscarriages might indicate that she had some type of genetic abnormality that was passed on to those embryos, but she was able to carry other pregnancies to term. That is reassuring. Most couples (95%) will be pregnant after no protection for 1.5 years. It may be time to begin a fertility work-up.

Many other reasons: "look to the semen" 20-30% of infertility is purely male. Semen analysis:it's relatively cheap to get and enjoyable to produce!
