Lose weight & heels: Both actions should help symptoms depending on what reason you have for being handicapped. Heels force your back into extension which further narrows your spinal canal aggravating the stenosis present . Treatment ranges from medication, use of a cane, physical therapy and epidural steroid injections. If you need surgery, obesity increases the risks/ complications of surgery.

Usually: Patients with spinal stenosis will have some form of medication when they get pain. There are different types of meds that can be used and i would see an internist to side what is appropriate for you. I would recommend if obese to try and lose a few pounds! and if your pain is presentin heels, why not just wear shoes without heels?
