If they take meds!: Most txp risks occur in the first year. After that, if the original problem was not cancer or hepatitis (which can come back after transplant), there is not usually a new problem that arises. However, some patients therefore stop taking their anti-rejection medications - and have rejection episodes. So, the key to living long is to taking the immunosuppression reliably.
