Do vitamins help depression?

Better treatments: Vitamins are micro-nutrients that help the body complete activities to maintain function, health, the immune system, and others. With vitamin deficiency, a number of diseases can develop, often with physical problems but could involve depressive symptoms. By taking more than the minimum amount of vitamins needed, there is not a large amount of evidence to help support further benefit at this time.

Depression, Vitamins: I agree with dr. Altman that the research data on this is early. But there are some associations with vitamin d deficiency and depression. Also, folate (in the form of l-methylfolate) can be used to augment antidepressant treatment: http://www.cnsspectrums.com/aspx/articledetail.aspx?articleid=1267 other "b's" like vitamin B12 may be involved too. http://tinyurl.com/4f5m47j.
