Normal: Bact in the vagina get overgrown with bv, common with heat and humdity, you can get on acidolphilus or pro-biotcis to help prevent BV , but if you have BV it needs to be treated with antibiotics either vaginal or oral so call your gyn.

Causes:: Altered bacterial environment in vagina via: good lactobacilli are killed off by antibiotics, douching, hormone changes such as menopause or going off the birth control pill. Risk increases with: multiple sex partners (though can get BV & have never had sex), possibly a link between BV and stress, cigarette smoking, use of an iud. Recurrent infections are common.
