Traned to treat both: Yes, the podiatrist is trained to evaluate and treat most "foot" issues..

Both are the same!!!: The foot/ankle and leg are a unit. You can't separate them like parts in a car. Your problem is the flesh or tissues of the lower leg/foot. The txmt is the same. Self or profess massage, chiropractor, yoga, heat, stretching all are needed. I use acupuncture and myofascial tissue release + vits, minerals, magnesium, b complex. X-rays can not find pain, only your fingers and the needles.

I am not sure what: You mean by not plantars....Plantar means bottom, so if you are impying it is not on the bottom then it would be in the back in which case you can have a retrocalcaneal spur, retrrocalcaneal bursitis, a haglunds deformity or achilles tendonitis. Gout is a possibility as well as a stres fracture of the heel. I suggest you go see the podiatrist and have an x-ray and clinical evaluation performed.

Many possibilities: Heel pain is most often caused by plantar fasciitis, a condition that is sometimes also called heel spur syndrome when a spur is present. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as, infection, tendonitis, arthritis, stress fracture, nerve irritation, retained foreign body, bone tumor, or a cyst. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
