Many things: Recent trauma? Not really enough info here to adequately address this...If persistent, see a podiatrist or your family doc.

Plantar fasciitis: It hurts especially when arising from bed or out of a sitting position. It won't usually be cured until you receive some treatment form a physician. In the meantime, ice it, wear supportive footgear at all times and take some anti-inflammatory medication if you can tolerate it and it is safe for you.

Most commonly: This is plantar fascitiis. Ice application to the heel, oral antiinflammatories, an arch support or heel cushion for walking, a night splint while sleeping, stretching when have the time, massage of the heel before getting out of bed in the morning are all helpful. When pain persists seeing the podiatrist is a good idea for further help.

Many possible causes: Heel pain is most often caused by plantar fasciitis, a condition that is sometimes also called heel spur syndrome when a spur is present. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as infection, tendonitis, arthritis, stress fracture, nerve irritation, retained foreign body, bone tumor, or a cyst. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

See a doctor.: If your severe heel pain does not ease up in a few days with rest, then see a doctor. A podiatrist treats heel pain every day and should be able to offer you simple treatment options. It is most likely plantar fasciitis, which is the most common cause of heel pain on the bottom of the heel.

Plantar fasciitis??: There's a good chance what you have is planter fasciitis. However, this should be evaluated by a local podiatrist for a definitive diagnosis. You can try stretching your calf muscle, anti-inflammatory medication and massage.
